Dear Phillis-Johnson Ball, I am writing to express my objection to the CN acquisition of the EJ&E railroad. My wife and I moved to our home last year. We live about 300 feet from the rail line. An increase of 400% of trains coming through this area would be an extremely dangerous situation and would decrease our quality of life immensely. We had no idea that this could happen or we NEVER would have bought this home. The joy of our new home is now being replaced by sorrow/fear. We do not want to live here if this happens. But what choice do we have now? Our home value would depreciate and we would be trapped in a situation where we could not live here and could not sell our home. The wheel to rail noise, vibration, horn sounding all day and night is something I cannot live with. Our retirement years will now be horrible and my wife is already suffering stress related problems with the thought of this happening.Emergency services will be unable to respond in a timely way. Our area will be congested and there is only one underpass in the area to avoid the tracks. And who will have to pay for any infrastructure? Will this fall on the backs of us the taxpayer? Our economy is in extreme crisis because our government did not provide safeguards for the interests of the individual taxpayer and now needs that taxpayer to bail us out. Do not allow the rail interests of CN to do the same and outweigh the interests of the individuals in the communities that will be severely impacted for THE REST OF OUR LIVES!!! Please consider all the ramifications of this before you vote. Is the quality of our lives insignificant? We have no recourse but to appeal to your good sense of judgment and hope that our government will not fail us again. The burden would be too great for us, please do not approve this transaction. Thank you.
