PLEASE LISTEN…CITIZENS DESERVE ALL EJ&E FACTS Once again…the cold metal hand of industry is reaching out to many local communities. Industry is ignoring just how many long fingers of ramification this irresponsible decision-making touches our families lives in our peaceful American communities and the possible dangers that these decisions will ultimately bring. The potentially harmful “trickle-down” all negative effect of the Canadian acquired EJ&E railroad “snaking” through our American communities must be weighed against the only obvious positive effect…making vast money for a Canadian owned/run company and creating possible increased tax revenue for the states the freight railroad will run through…interrupting the urban and rural communities in its pathway. The old abandoned railroads that were eliminated years ago when our new communities were emerging beyond large city limits and trucking became more common, are being “dusted-off” and resurrected at this inopportune time of America’s diminished manufacturing. I personally witnessed the already established Canadian freightlines and observed the many cars clearly noting the hazardous chemicals being transported through our American backyards. We are appealing to “those in charge!!” Please listen to our unified plea. Show us NOW what this EJ&E will profit us! Show us all positive figures and graphs proving that this increased interruption in our intersections…these sometimes threateningly close to our schools and shopping areas with children idling on their way home from school…Playfully…Innocently…walking near these increased potentially hazardous freight trains. Show us proof that increased pedestrian and car accidents will not occur with the onset of the projected increase of freight railroad traffic, which is clearly more hazardous than commuter train traffic. Should you not have the positive answers that our “INVOLVED COMMUNITIES” deserve, we, the American citizen taxpayers, will seek vengeance. We are unified in our community goal which is the welfare and safety of our community. Should you, our voices in local government, not speak on our behalf, please be warned…be watchful…update your resume’s …we will remember…elections occur. Show us increased and improved protection from derailments and harmful toxic chemical spills that may potentially occur. Show us current testing of possible increases in air pollution caused by diesel exhaust fumes in a reasonably close proximity to freight railways. Show us what will our costs be to our communities when and if a major evacuation and community repair will be necessary if a derailment and chemical spill would occur. Who pays for the reparation?? Show us proof in graph forms that increased pedestrian and car accidents won’t occur with increased freight rail traffic. Show us “WHAT’S IN IT FOR US!!!” Potential danger occurring through our communities increased from 5 times/daily to 20 times/daily is not now or will ever be acceptable…actually the 5 times/day has been negligent and must be rethought. Hazardous chemical mishap accidents caused by freight train accidents must be further reviewed and more intense laws for safety must be introduced. A CONCERNED CITIZEN OF BARRINGTON ILLINOIS
