I feel that the proposed acquisition by Canadian National would be devastatingly negative to the entire region for all the stated reasons. The bottom line for Canadian National is profits. They do not care about their impact on our lives and environment. If the STB allows this acquisition...ultimately we the taxpayers will be forced to foot the bill to pay for railroad crossing improvements or overpasses,etc. What with the current financial bailout at this very moment,asking us to spend additional millions would be a complete dereliction of your duty. Please protect us from this. I used to live in Park Ridge/Des Plaines area and know first hand the reality of the freight trains . Please don't allow this to happen. Thank you.
