As a lifelong resident of the Plainfield area(76 years) I feel I have a duty to object to CN buying the EJ&E. The community already has considerable train traffic and given that many of these trains have so many railcars they can block 3 and sometimes 4 crossings at one time. There has been a major increase of automobile traffic in the area and with the increased train traffic even longer lines of car backups will cause delays in emergency vehicles getting to their destinations in a timely manner. I, for one, cannot be reached by a Plainfield emergency vehicle without having to cross at least one rail crossing and I would hate to think of them having to wait for a train while I was having a heart attack or my house was burning down. I can appreciate the fact that Chicago would like to have less train traffic, but why allow this sale to take what little countrystyle living there is in the area and completely ruin our quality of life. What was once a quiet country community is now a sprawling city and certainly does not need the added influx of more traffic on our railroads which will only bring more traffic tieups and noise.
