Ms.Rutson, I am a long time resident of Aurora,IL. I would like to voice my objections with you, regarding the disastrous impact CN's proposed plans will have on my community and the surrounding areas. The sale will harmfully impact already declining home values. The increased lack of safety involving derailments with hazardous waste (CN has a proven poor/unsatisfactory" track record), and numerous RR crossings ( I know people will be speeding to "beat" the gates to avoid long and wasteful train crossing times). The extra time it will take for emergency vehicles to arrive on the scene and perhaps back to hospitals, will certainly cost us lives and further harm. The cost to cities & towns along the railway, to accommodate the increased CN rail traffic is mind-boggling. (We already have one of the highest property tax rates in all of Illinois!) This proposed action will only create "dead zones" of property value and destroy whatever safe and prosperous communities there are along the route. How can this CN proposal possibly be considered, knowing the tremendous, and numerous negative impacts it will have on thousands and thousands of people and communities along the route? I wouldn't want to see this happen to ANY U.S. city, especially at the hands of a foreign company with everything to gain and nothing to lose. Please stop this social and ecological disaster!
