Ref: STB Finance Docket No. 35087 Dear Ms. Johnson-Ball, I am writing to express my opposition to the prospective acquisition of the EJ&E line by Canadian National Railway. This proposed acquisition will negatively impact my community in many ways. I am certain you have received many letters listing these negative effects and I believe these impacts can not be understated. Specific to my neighborhood, should these longer and faster trains become a reality, we will face the dangerous reality of being separated from our nearest hospital emergency center. Many schools in our area are near or next to the tracks, and will be adversely affected. Property values, already suffering due to the current economic situation, will decrease further. Additionally, recent studies by RTA have revealed that a potential overcrowding of the EJ&E lines will also interfere with commuter METRA train lines affecting our ability to get to and from our workplaces in a timely manner. Gridlock would be an inevitable side effect of CN’s proposed train schedules. Please do not let this transaction become a reality. I am hopeful that you will make the decision to vote against this acquisition and to help keep our communities safe for us and for future generations. Respectfully yours, Tracy Richardson
