I am opposed to the CN acquisition of the EJ&E Rail Line's current configuration (impact on vehicle delays; emergency vehicle response times (long trains blocking series of crossings)). If bypassing Chicago can provide significant cost savings, search for an alternate route that may involve relocating some of the existing EJ&E lines to eliminate objections to the current proposal. This would add cost and time for a study to determine if such a plan is feasible.
