Please help us stop the purchase of the EJ&E rail line by Canadian National. The environmental study demonstrated that it would significantly impact quality of life in our area. Here are some of the issues of this proposed purchase: -Train traffic in our area would more than triple -Canadian National is offering to provide only enough money to build overpasses/underpasses for 2 crossings, while Senator Durbin counted the number of crossings that will require such action at 140 -In school district 204, there are 2 crossings that school buses traverse more than 300 times daily--that's only our school district and only 2 crossings -Traffic congestion has increased significantly in this area in recent years, and the estimated 10 minutes longer per gate closure at crossings plus the triple train load would be a major hardship This purchase would cause us, the citizens, many problems and provide us with absolutely no benefit. We're getting tired of paying the bill for big business who couldn't care less about how their getting richer affects us. Thanks for your consideration on this issue, and please do the right thing.
