I am extremely concerned about the proposed purchase of the EJ and E rail line by Canadian National. This will impact my community in a number of ways. One of my major concerns is the increased rail traffic and delays that it will cause on Route 34 and Montgomery Road. My son travels this route every day to school. I am worried about his travel time increasing and also about increased risks of accidents caused by these delays & backups. Also, the noise of the whistles already wakes me in the middle of the night - this morning - at 4am, I counted 3 within an hour! My other major concern is the impact this will have on my taxes. The city will have no choice but to build bridges over the grade level crossings, which I understand will not be reimbursed by Canadian National. Especially in this economy, I cannot afford an increase in my taxes because of this issue. If this purchase is approved, I feel Canadian National needs to pay 100% for the construction & materials of the bridges. Thank you for your time.
