STB Finance Docket No. 35087 I am writing to comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), and to offer my support for CN's proposed acquisition of the Eljin, Joliet, and Eastern Railway (EJ&E). This transaction will benefit Chicago and surrounding communities by removing freight rail congestion from the heart of Chicago, and shifting it to the EJ&E's underutilized line. Shifting traffic over to the EJ&E lines will allow trains to move faster and stop less frequently, which will help to reduce the amount of diesel emissions. There are no negative environmental impacts resulting from this proposed transaction. CN is able to make infrastructure improvements that ensure the continued safety of employees and the communities through which their trains move. CN service is the benchmark in the railroad industry. Please support CN's acquisition of the EJ&E Railway.
