I am writing to add my voice to those opposing the acquisition of the EJ&E West Company by the Canadian National Railway. I echo the sentiments you have heard from this area's elected state and national representatives regarding this proposed sale: - There will be significant vehicle delays at railroad crossings on already congested roads in the area - Response times for emergency vehicles will be dramatically increased due to the increase in rail traffic - A dramatic increase in noise and pollution from the resulting increase in train traffic In the movies, the sound of a distant train whistle often had romantic overtones. But for my neighbors and my family here in Aurora, the sound of a train whistle is not an infrequent - and certainly not a romantic - occurrence. We may hear as many as 5 to 10 trains in an evening. If the CN projections are correct, that number may increase 3 or 4-fold on a daily basis. I assure you, that the sound of 15 to 40 trains per day will diminish the quality of life for all of us in this area, especially since we live near 3 crossing grades, so we will that whistle times 3. I urge you and the members of the STB to reject this proposed sale for the sake of the health and well being of the people who live near and along the EJ&E line. Thank you for you consideration.
