The CN Railroad should not be allowed to purchase the E, J & E Railroad, because they would greatly increase the numbers and lengths of trains that run on this line. This not only would delay people as they go about their daily business, it could prove tragic if emergency vehicles can not cross blocked crossings. Additionally the increased number of crossing increases the liklihood of a fatal vehicle-train collision. I understand that neighborhoods in the inner suburbs and Chicago may benefit from this transition, but I don't think that validates it. The fact that this foreign company would reap huge profits from this sale, while cash-strapped local governments would be faced with huge public works projects to try to mitigate the effect of more frequent and longer trains, is one more huge reason why this sale should not be permitted.
