This is concerning the CN acquisition of the EJ&E. My husband and I are very much opposed to this. We are concerned about significant vehicle delays at railroad crossings for both personal vehicles as well as emergency vehicles. The safety of the crossings, as well as increased noise levels is a huge concern to us. We live less than a mile from a crossing, and the noise level would certainly increase if the sale goes thru. I am also concerned for the safety of children of various ages who take school buses to get to many Naperville schools, not to mention high school kids who drive and would be slowed by having to stop for trains during the day. Just getting to and from work will get harder to do if the number of trains is increased from an average of 16 trains a day up tp 42 trains per day. All we will be able to do is sit all day and wait for a clear crossing. We'll never get any place at that rate!!! We bought our home in what we thought to be a very lovely and quiet area of Naperville, and now this is happening. On nice evenings when we have the windows open, we can hear the trains like they were right in our back yard...and if the amount of train traffic increases with this sale, it will be almost impossible to have our windows open at any time. Getting to and from appointments and other destinations will be more difficult if the train traffic is increased. With long trains passing thru ...at 10,000 feet in length, vehicle traffic will be at a stand still! I am also concerned about pollution from these trains and the impact it would have on our lives. Our grandchildren play here a lot, and pollution is also a big concern for them. We are opposed to this sale, and hope the health and well being of neighbors in the area, and safety of the mass population will be concidered before a decission is made. The impact on emergency vehicles is a major concern as well as the increase of noise and vibration factors as trains go thru our area. Please do not allow this to happen to our community! Please DO NOT allow this sale to go thru. Safety issues are very important, but on another level, house prices in this area are certain to fall if the sale goes thru. With the houseing market in a slump right now this would certainly not help the value of our homes. This would greatly have a negative impact on the economy of our area. As retirement is close on the horizon for us, we would be greatly impacted by an even further falling housing market. Please.....DO NOT ALLOW THIS SALE TO GO THRU.
