I just read an article in the New Lenox Patriot that explained more about the Canadian National Railway's Proposal to purchase the EJ&E line which could increase freight train traffic from 6 trains to around 30 trains. This would be extremely difficult for our community. They only proposed for $40,000,000 dollars to be used for overpasses, roads, etc... Which means our tax dollars would be paying for the rest. Having this many freight trains coming through our community would also be dangerous for school buses crossing the tracks, ambulances trying to get to an emergency on the other side, backed up traffic, the list goes on and on. We all know how frustrating it is being caught by a train when we are in a hurry. Imagine this happening 30 times a day.
