I am writing regarding the proposed acquisition of the EJ&E by Canadian National. The reasons this is a horrible idea are far too numerous to itemize here. Let me briefly say the economic impact this would have on the entire Chicagoland region would be traumatic. In addition to the very obvious environmental hazards and related risks to human lives, the effect on the regions economy would be catastrophic. So many area will be gridlocked that the area's economy will fail. The only positive CN claims, the decrease of trains within the EJ&E arc, is clearly false. Everyone, including the CN, acknowledges that benefit will be very short-lived. Please consider the terrible consequences that will undoubtedley occur if this acquisition were allowed.
