As a homeowner who lives adjacent to the E&J railroad (about 200 yards from the tracks), I and my neighbors oppose Canadian National's proposed acquistion. The increase in traffic is unacceptable to a region that already has transportation problems and lacking funding for improvements. The noise, pollution, traffic, and inconveniences will burden the local citizens, not Canadian National railway. CN's safety policies and transportation of hazardous cargo through residential neighborhoods is also unacceptable. The citizens gain nothing from this acquistion; it is a lose-lose situation. I challenge the STB to look deeper beyond those issues not fully detailed in the draft Environmental Impact Statement. This report downplays the real issues rather than addressing them head-on. The constituents oppose this acquistion!
