Comment EI-11996

Received or sent (printed as 9/18/2008)

This message is in regards to the proposed track connection between EJ&E and CN tracks on the north side of Joliet (actually in unincorporated Lockport Township, not Joliet). The original proposal calls for the new track to be positioned on the east side of the existing CN tracks, on land currently occupied by two automobile salvage businesses. The newer alternative proposal calls for the new connecting track to be located on the west side of the existing CN tracks, in very close proximity to the Illinois and Michigan Canal Heritage Corridor. In view of the tremendous historical significance of the I&M Canal, I urge you to support the use of the original alignment for the track connection at this location, and discourage the use of the alternative alignment. Thank you for your consideration.
