Comment EI-11984

Please consider all of the ramifications of the potential purchase of the EJ&E railroad line by CN Railway to the Village of Barrington, Illinois. Our town virtually would come to a standstill when a train passes. We have three major grade crossings at Lake Cook Rd., Rt. 59 and Northwest Highway all within a mile of each other, straight through the center of our town. When these grade crossings are blocked by long freight trains, our school buses, emergency fire, ambulances and police come to an immediate halt. These are serious life, safety health issues. In addition, the railroad as CN intends to use it would significantly impact the real estate values of our town, not only for the residents who live immediately near it's tracks, but also for all community member's homes. When the schools, hospitals and emergency services cannot function, we have a problem. It is not fair for a foreign company to come to the U.S. and tell its villages, states and country to infuse great sums of money to fix the grade crossings because the foreign company needs to become more profitable. Please make CN show Barrington and the State of Illinois the money to fix the problems that it will create if they purchase the EJ & E tracks. Sincerely, Kari Frankenberg
