I have lived at the intersection of 75th Avenue and Grand Avenue in Elmwood Park for the last three years and have been shocked by the amount of freight that rolls through Elmwood Park. Any reduction in Elmwood Park would be greatly appreciated. The road/rail crossings in Elmwood Park have become very unsafe as many people race accross the tracks in order to avoid being delayed by another freight train. This paranoia was likely the cause of people attempting to cross the tracks in the Thanksgiving Eve traffic in 2005 when a number of cars were stuck on the tracks at the Grand Avenue crossing, and a number of the vehicles were hit. It is disappointing that freight traffic can take just as long to travel through Chicago, as it takes to arrive here. Any reduction in travel time would benefit the consumer who purchase the goods transported on the trains by a reduction in shipping costs, and the environmental benefits would be greatly appreciated by the communities that are innundated by the excessive freight traffic rolling through their boundaries. Please support the purchase of the EJ&E railway by Canadian National.
