Comment on Document No. 35087 The Munger Alternative - UP Connection" described in Section 2.4.1.4 of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement ("DEIS") (see page 2-48) should be immediately removed from consideration. This section erroneously claims that the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County (FPDDC) proposed an alternative that the UP Belvidere Subdivision rail line be used as an alternative to connecting CN’s Freeport Subdivision rail line with EJ&E’s Western Subdivision rail line. This is false. On September 12, 2008, the PFFDC issued a press release denying that it proposed such an alternative, and also stating that it did NOT support this alternative. The North Country in Wayne Community Association, comprised of approximately 45 families, strongly objects to this alternative. The UP route crosses high traffic Dunham Road (which include heavy truck traffic), and runs immediately alongside our neighborhood where our families live, and also alongside the Lamplight Equestrian Center, a proud attraction of Wayne which draws thousands of visitors a year. This would dramatically and disproportionately and unnacceptably increase the risk to human health, safety and environment, relative to any other options, and therefore should be immediately removed from any consideration."
