As a resident of Lake Zurich for 15 years, it is important to me, my neighbors and friends that any acquisition of the EJ&E railroad by CN build in relief for the citizens from the potentially serious economic, environmental and safety repercussions to our way of life. I welcome any shift of freight traffic from our congested roads to rail, but CN must contribute more to the upgrades required to make this transition bearable. The existing tracklines are unsuitable for today's traffic needs. Someone sooner or later will likely be seriously injured or killed on one of these antiquated crossings should this five-fold increase in train traffic be approved. For many people boxed in by several crossings, there are few ways to avoid major negative changes in our lifestyles. So I ask that a condition of CN's acquisition is that they pay for one third of the cost for every approved crossing upgrade over the next ten years. The taxpayer will no doubt have to foot the balance, but at least this will prompt all of us to seek a long term solution to this serious problem. Thankyou for the opportunity to address my comments.
