I am writing to express my concern over the purchase of the EJ&E through the city of New Lenox, IL. I have two small boys that attend Spencer Pointe Grade School, they are 6 and 8. The school they attend is very near the railway. Both of my sons suffer from asthma, allergies, and severe skin eczema and their health is primarily determined by environmental situations. They ride the bus to and from school and cross the railroad tracks involved in this acquisition. I am AGAINST this purchase by Canadian Railway, because I am concerned about the additional pollutants that my children will be exposed to as they are on the bus (with windows open), at recess outside, or participating in soccer (there are Park District Soccer Fields right there as well). I believe this acquisition will seriously deteriorate the community by adding toxins in the air from the train itself and from the car emissions as they wait for the trains to pass. I say NO WAY PLEASE!!! This railway is too much physically integrated into a thriving community with many, many children...just look at the distance to one of our major grade and kindergarten schools. PLEASE stop this acquisition from happening for the benefit of all the youth, the future of our communities.
