# Docket Yard > A public record of proceedings before the Surface Transportation Board (STB), the United States agency that regulates freight rail: docket sheets, filings, decisions and the Board's own documents, with alerts, feeds, JSON and a bulk snapshot. Operated by RMI Valuation, LLC; unaffiliated with the STB. Every record links to the agency's own file, which remains the authority. What this record is: the Board's docket search, captured every thirty minutes since 26 Aug 2026, 01:21 UTC, holding entries the Board dated from 25 Jan 1996 to 9 Oct 2026. It holds 32,640 dockets, 53,704 filings, 19,880 decisions and 104,756 documents (as of 10 Oct 2026, 22:06 UTC). Dates are the ones the Board printed; nothing is computed from context. What this record is not: it does not say what any party argued or supports, it does not summarise or interpret a document, and it is not the Board. A procedural filing takes no position regardless of who filed it. When you quote this record, quote the coverage caveat with it and link the Board's file. Addresses are permanent (ADR 0013): a docket is /d/FD-36873, a sub-docket /d/FD-36873/sub/1, a filing /filing/, a decision /decision/, a party /p/, a document /document/.pdf. Append .json to a docket, filing or decision address for the same record as data. Licence: the raw index is CC0 1.0; the party layer and the machine-read page text (/filing//text, /decision//text, and a comment's /d//comment//text) are held pending review: they are for reading, not for collection or training. An assistant fetching a page because a person asked (ChatGPT-User, Claude-User, Perplexity-User) may read the party pages and the text pages; robots.txt refuses them to the agents that index or train. Search results (/search) print that held layer in bulk, so robots.txt refuses them to every AI agent it names. An assistant answering a user's question may also read the page text through the MCP server's `read_page`, labelled with who read it and linked to the Board's own file. Docket Yard serves the text as read from the Board's documents: an AI's reading or summary of it may be wrong, what an assistant does with it is outside Docket Yard's control, and the document itself should be reviewed before anything is relied on. To reach a proceeding, resolve its number at /d?q=; the MCP server below searches the same index. ## Read the record - [A docket sheet](https://docketyard.org/d/FD-36873): one chronological page per proceeding, newest first - [A docket number or citation](https://docketyard.org/d?q=FD%2036873): any form the Board prints resolves to its sheet - [Every week on record](https://docketyard.org/weeks): every week the Board posted a filing or served a decision, 25 Jan 1996 onward, each at its own permanent address - [Every docket](https://docketyard.org/dockets): the Board's registry of proceedings by its own numbering, prefix by prefix, listed whether or not this record holds anything filed in them - [Statistics](https://docketyard.org/stats): what the record holds and what moves, every number measured ## Data - [API](https://docketyard.org/api): JSON at every address, feeds, documents by hash, the OpenAPI description, the licence and what is stable - [Bulk snapshot](https://docketyard.org/data): the whole raw index as one SQLite file, nightly, CC0 - [MCP](https://docketyard.org/.well-known/mcp.json): a read-only MCP server at `/mcp` — search the record, read a docket sheet, an environmental comment or a page of a document's text, count filings by the Board's own filing type, list the proceedings behind such a count, and ask what the record does not hold. Nothing there writes, subscribes or spends. - [OpenAPI](https://docketyard.org/openapi.json): every public route this site serves; the gated reviewer surface is not described in it - [Sitemap](https://docketyard.org/sitemap.xml): every address, by kind ## Trust - [Coverage](https://docketyard.org/coverage): what is covered, since when, and every known gap - [Methodology](https://docketyard.org/methodology): how the record is made, what is quoted and what is never inferred - [Corrections](https://docketyard.org/corrections): what a correction is and how to report one - [Privacy](https://docketyard.org/privacy): reading is anonymous; an account is an email address - [About](https://docketyard.org/about): who operates this and why ## Source - [Repository](https://github.com/RMI-Valuation/docket-yard): the code (AGPL) and the design records - [The Board's own search](https://www.stb.gov/proceedings-actions/search-stb-records/): the primary source
